OK, does anybody really understand cricket?

Could somebody explain it to me?



I don't really have any need for understanding cricket, just wondering if this jazz-hands-ball-wag-over-wicket is a normal event in a match...

If so, what is is called?
Is it an offensive or defensive play?
Information along those lines...
