I have noticed lots of folks mentioning not winning mega millions tonight and it made me think about that...


Suddenly being rich and what you would do.


I am not sure how I would handle that, being (relatively) cash poor most of my life, I am sorta used to it.  I work on those terms, improvising and making due.  I think it keeps me honest.


Sure, there is stuff I would blow money on.


My gal has always wanted a gallery of some sort, so that would get a green light.

I might buy some absurd machines, a Lancia Stratos or a Ferarri Dino come to mind.

Probably pick up a lot of crap to make something cool out of.

Help some pals get their projects further along, maybe.


But you know, I get by right now.  I am some variation of happy...


My old truck still does what I ask.

My bike is what it is.

Home is where ever the pack is.


I might need some parcel of land, for recluse wrecklessness. 

Howard Hughes had that right, in all his richness, at the end.


Really, I would just buy as much freedom how ever many millions could afford and let the world do whatever (perhaps with a trust formed to turn things to something I could stand).


The one thing I would be sure to buy is the ability to be left alone...

Exhausting

Well, I promised I wouldn't post up bullshit until I got something done.  I think the pipes are done now.


Along with other stuff.  My little bins of random bolts are emptying, finding their homes.  Obsessing about nuts that need turning, all of that.

The stuff that consumes one, after taking lots of crap apart in the search of cool.  Putting back together is the tough bit...

Parts never seem to fit the same way when they come in contact with paint, or other finishes.


So, yeah.  I could probably fire this off tomorrow, but I have other things to get done.


Next week will be time for some action...


Of course I will likely need to deal with jetting and take stuff apart again.  It is cool to get some steps crossed off the list though.

Exhausting

Well, I think I am about done fabricating the exhaust...


I was planning on just wrapping shit with header tape, but I just hate the stuff.  It is good though.  Made me step up and make some cool bits, like this here heat shield...


Maybe there are too many things full of holes, now.  I like that, though, I guess. 

Seeing through layers. 

I kinda think the parts of a motorcycle you can see through are as important as the other parts. 


Gonna try to get some paint on shit tomorrow...

Since Herman Cain was drummed out of the presidential race (for the various places he attempted to stick his dick, rather than the fact that he is a lunatic imbecile) it seems he has soldiered on with some sort of stimulus plan protest thing.

You know, I like to hang out in the AM, walk the dogs, look at the sky, get a game plan together for my day and maybe make some fresh juice.

All healthy-like and shit...

I make all kinds of fruit juice.  I juice the veggies too, man.

Or, some days I make some coffee.  Hell, sometimes I make juice and coffee.

Brackets

Everybody seems to be talking about brackets these days...

I made some sparks today and came up with this start on brackets to support the exhaust.

I probably could have gotten this done some time ago, but a bit of pondering helped me keep things simple.  The rubber mount engine requires the suppost hang off the cases.  I was trying to use some existing holes and stay out of the way of other moving parts, while not making stuff too complicated.  Seem to have done that.

Now, just hope it all holds together...

Gray

Normally, in the garage I wear a hat.

Not for some vanity reason, but for convenience.  The welding hood is sized for a hat underneath, it keeps hair out of the way, all of that.

I am not really working on things tonight, or rather, not really using power tools. 

I am in the garage though, bending some stuff for exhaust brackets.  More just to see how things bend than actually making stuff.  Sans hat...

Anyway, there is this one gray hair, just drooping into my line of sight.  Has been all night.  Just dangling there, distracting me from what I am doing, with a silver shimmer.

So, yeah.

Have I spouted off about this before?

When did people start calling kickstands "jiffy stands"?

Is that some deal from a regional vernacular I am not familiar with?  I mean, I kinda grew up around motorcycles.  They all had kickstands, just like every other bike I came across since.
Is there some historical context, that describes a kickstand as a jiffy stand in some old advertisement or brochure?

Copper River



When we were out on that other coast, every year there was about a week or two when you could get your hands on fresh copper river salmon.

I was able to get some here, once.  Not the same. That extra day+ on a plane might have bummed it out.

Just thought I would mention it.  Best salmon I have ever had came out of that river...

Changes





Yeah, so stuff is going on here, the big kind of stuff...

The gal started her new gig last week, but today is sort of her first real day.  Perhaps you already heard that, or not.  The eight people who check in here, of that, probably a few know the score here.

The thing about her new gig is that it's not here.  It's up in between Boston and Providence.  So, my gal is doing the commute for a few months and I am gonna pack up the carpetbags when we figure out where to land up there.

Another relocation/new city/life adventure for the clan.
I would like to think that this is the sort of thing that makes us interesting people.  Since I don't really talk to people, I am not sure that works out though.
If nothing else, I know where to get a decent meal, in a lot of different cities...

Conversation





I am not sure what is going on, exactly...

I assume that I am starting to sound like this guy in typical conversations.  Since I can't really see myself from another's perspective, I can only imagine that I must come across quite like this, based on people's reactions,at least.  I mean without an accent, I guess, or rather a muted Ohio accent.

Do you get what I am saying?  It is like I am saying something but all the magnetic moon harmonics change the way what I am saying sounds, so when you hear what I am saying it is nothing at all like what I said.  It sounds like some other crazy talk thing and not at all the reasonable things I thought I said.


It probably has to do with all the lasers...

So while everybody shouts back and forth about the whole Limbaugh-Fluke-slut deal, which is pretty reprehensible, I am going to mention one point...

Dudes like Blunt and Boehner intend to circle back for another go at the legislation.  Legislation that is flawed and absurd in basis and application.

While it is rude of Limbaugh to call Fluke a slut, the thing that everybody should be even more pissed off about is this initiative by conservatives to degrade women's access to basic healthcare.  That is what we are talking about here, and it is a lot bigger than simpleton, high school insults...

Here is Fluke delivering her opening statements, in case you have only heard the mass media coverage, insults, outrage and backlash...




It only is ten minutes.  I would venture you have already heard more than ten minutes of bullshit on the subject, so why not hear what Fluke actually said?






On a separate subject, why isn't anybody talking about the Michigan GOP mess?

Not the bit about Dem's jumping party lines to impact the vote, because that is even acceptable for Mr. Mitt by  his own admission.

No, I am talking about the state organizers moving to change the rules regarding delegate allocation after the voting was done?

I mean it is pretty clear that somebody wants Romney to be the candidate, but changing the rules of the game after the public vote seems a it, you know, wrong.  The change in rules allowed party leaders to assign one of the floating convention delegates to Romney rather than Santorum, thus preventing a tie in terms of nominating delegates.

I guess I don't care if the GOP digs up the mummified corpse of Reagan and runs it in the election, so this kind of shiftiness doesn't impact me much, now - but changing the rules on your own game, after mustering the core to vote for the least pathetic candidate seems just tacky, doesn't it?

Over at the Washington Post, Carter Eskew finds parallels between the whole Blunt amendment debacle and Edward Kennedy's speech regarding the nomination of Robert Bork or the Supreme Court.

I actually remember that nomination process and speech.

Anybody with rosey glasses, for looking back at the Reagan presidency, should be reminded that he put Bork up for that job.  Bork may best be described as a conservative, far fringe dwelling, fuck stick, for those of you who weren't around or paying attention back then.

Oddly, in spite of averting the catastrophe of the old Borker on the Supreme Court and a lot of talk about how the country is turning into a crazy, commie, homo land - we actually seem to have creeped closer to the reality that Kennedy was talking about there, in 1987, huh?
