Cab

I have run into Steve Caballero a few times, since I have been in the Bay Area.
At a couple car shows, he had a bitchin' A coupe for a while.

Really nice guy...

Ninja

So we have all of those lame pirates doing their thing these days.

Recent reports tell of really lame ninjas too.

As told by the AP:
WEYMOUTH, Mass. - A man dressed like a ninja used a sword in an attempt to rob a dry cleaner, police said.

A convenience store clerk called police Monday after she spotted a man walking into the store wearing a ski mask and carrying a sword in a sheath on his belt.

When the man noticed her, he pulled his mask off and asked if she was calling about him, police said.

When the worker said she was, police said the man left the store and walked into nearby Galaxy Cleaners.

There, police said he pointed a sword at the register and asked a clerk to give him all the money inside. Police said he left after she told him she couldn't open the drawer.

Police still are searching for the man, who witnesses said appeared to be in his late 20s.

It seems like it might be about time for a lame version of the Justice League to get going, huh?

Aptera

I am not one to be gaga about electric cars, but it is Earth Day and the folks at BoingBoing gadgets posted this pic of an Aptera.

Sure, you can't really see it in this pic, but it is behind the building where I work. You should be smart enough to go find some pictures if you really want to.

The Aptera has a total Jetsons design asthetic and is twice as nifty as the Tesla roadsters folks are nutty about. I have also seen the Tesla in person, and it is not all that.

The Aptera is like flying car neat, but it doesn't quite fly. They haven't quite finalized the production version, and the range is still too limited, but it is an electric car I would happily be seen in.

Happy Earth Day

Hurricane

The Vetter styled Triumph X-75 Hurricane

I might get one of these when I take over the world.

I think I would need to have a truck that followed me around, with loudspeakers mounted to the top - blasting that Scorpions song about rocking you like a hurricane.

That would be cool.

Plus, when the bike takes a crap we can just load it into the truck.

GOP Tea Bagging

I am glad I am not the only one wondering if all the GOP blathering about holding "tea bag events" was poorly thought out or just plain crazy.

Mark Cooper, wrote this in todays LA Times

"The FreedomWorks site says the Tea Party movement began in reaction to President Obama's corporate bailouts and ensuing yawning budget deficits. These same conservatives, however, were mum when George W. Bush erased our budget surplus and put us deep in the red by drunken spending on a pointless war in Iraq and by, yes, granting massive tax rollbacks for the loaded country clubbers who fund the GOP (and Armey's FreedomWorks). Another bothersome detail: The bailouts were also initiated by Bush."

After years of giving it to us in the ass, the electorate told them to stop.
Now they want to get together for a tea bagging party.
I guess it sorta makes sense...

(Re; The dogs at tea party pic - I am sure the dogs in the picture are perfectly nice, I don't mean to associate them with any of this political stuff or anything. )

Rental Car Rally

Now here is something I can get behind!

The Rental Car Rally!

Last year was New York to Montreal.
This year it starts right here in SF.

Sure, there rules about speeding and points scored on style are kinda gay.

It is enough to make me want to dress up like a priest and rent a Ferrari though, similar to Dean Martin in Cannonball Run. I just need a Sammy Davis style sidekick, who is willing to put the Ferrari on his/her credit card.

Honestly, when have you ever been able to justify the optional full coverage at the rental car place?
This is the time, the perfect reason.
It doesn't have to be a Ferrari.

Maybe a Crown Vic?
That is a solid rear wheel drive V8 car, perfect for this sort of work.

You and me?
(Along with a GPS, night vision goggles, binoculars, a laser/radar detector and police band radio.)

We could just take a quick trip down to Yuma...

What do ya say?

Don't Hug the Bears

They think you are food...

I guess this crazy woman is the second Berliner to hop into the polar bear area of this German zoo. Some guy snuck past the guards, hopped the fence, waded through some thorn bushes and climbed the concrete wall which surrounds the exhibit last year.

I hear that they have a bear cub raised by humans at this zoo. Knut, the cute bear cub has apparently blurred the line of which animals you can pet and which animals will disembowel you for a certain number of Germans.

I don't really have any funny banter to go along with this. The humor of folks trying to play with polar bears is pretty self evident.

This lady got a good mauling, with bites to the arms, legs and back before zoo keepers were able to fish her out.
The last guy was unscathed, they ditracted the bears with a steer leg while ushering him out of the habitat.

Any animal that one might distract with a part of some second animal which is larger than ones self is probably best given a wide swath in my book - like other side of the fence/wall/moat kind of distance.

I do appreciate the zoo's response to these incidents.
There stand is that, well, these are giant predators...if you are crazy enough to climb into a bear pit things might go wrong...and you are crazy, so the wall and security stay the same.

The bears can't get out.
The crazies can get in, but shouldn't.
That's it.

The zoo administrators recognize that the only thing broken is the synapse that keeps a sane person from scrambling into a bear pit...and that is something they cannot fix.

Chuck

You were probably thinking that I had forgotten about taking over the world, huh?
Nobody said anything 'cause you though it might be for the best.

Well, sorry, still taking over the world here...
Just give me a bit, alright.

The framus reactor is on line at this point, which is a big help in the lab. The baboonbot research takes a lot of energy, more than I was able to mooch off the grid.

Until the baboonbots are operational, I needed some back up.
That is where Chuck comes in.
Chuck was a regular chimp, but he accidentally was exposed to some wacky radiation in the framus reactor.
Now he is strangely intelligent, articulate and dapper.
Fairly handy with the pistol, though a bit unbalanced.

I did some testing on Chuck, following the radiation exposure.
Not sure if I could easily replicate the effects for use in the baboonbots. I am just going to move forward with the circuit intelligence program for the bots.

Anyway, if you think about it, all of the great Bond super-villains had cool henchmen. It is part of the idiom.

So, now I have Chuck.

The Hot One

I assume that the hot one is some reference to Gene Romero's shoe or his ability to win races.

Not some bid for the repressed homosexual motorcycle consumer market.
Though he did ride for Triumph, and Triumph guys can be a little swishy.

Note the cool fade paint on the tank...and the big #1 plate.

Anybody can get some cool paint, but it takes some work to get that number plate.

And the 1,2,3 shot.
I think that is Gene with Dick Mann and Dave Aldana.

That is a god damned legends club right there...

Good One

A nice prank on us, by the world leaders, the G20 Summit.
April Fools!
As if they didn't have enough fun at our expense, anyway.

How about we send 'em off for a little holiday in London.
Meet the Queen and Gordo, generate some protests or riots.

Even in this moment of epic economic up-endedness, I question the point of a $75,000,000.00 get together of world leaders.

There is nothing that they will talk about that haven't damned well been talking about for the past three months on the phone. The issues that they are in disagreement on will not be resolved with some glad-handing and photo-ops.

There will be some platitudes about collective ambition to fix problems and maybe get to the bottom of how greed drove us under.
A few thousand protestors will get to wave some banners in front of cameras.
A few hundred cops will, probably, get the chance to crack the skulls of a few dozen protestors.
Germany will continue to hold back on further stimulus spending.
Gordon Brown will go on with saying nationalist bullshit about jobs.
The EU will be forced to remind itself of the rules the EU established on trade, immigration and finance.
Russia is going to continue manipulate the energy market in Eastern Europe, in an effort to prop up it's currency.
Powerful party members in China will consolidate their grip on their global capitalist holdings, buy American debt and recess into greater secrecy.
Japan will go on with the resolute denial of it's mounting troubles.

But they will all get some face time with each other.
They will make some resolutions
We'll still be fucked.

Good one guys, you really got us with this one.

Have fun in London.

April Fools

Oh, I pity the fool that would try to play an April Fools day prank on Mr. T.

I am sure it would end badly.
