Real People

These Chevy fake non-actor commercials actually make me angry.

Seriously...

This remix to include some focus group reality is quite refreshing.

In Case

In case you were looking for a car that looks like a guitar amplifier road case, tipped on it's side...

Here it is.

(I am not sure what is more terrible, the car itself or the narrative to justify it.)

Ambiance

I really like what you have done with the lighting in here...

It really set the mood.

Swing

That is a room with a swing in it...

Just consider that.

I venture we would be happier, as a civilization, if we prioritized more access to adult sized swings in our accommodations/living spaces.

If you don't believe me on that, you probably need to go put your ass on a swing for a few minutes...

Then report back to me.

Truck Buggy

Go ahead and put this on the list of things I didn't know I wanted, until I saw them...
I will just call it truck buggy, though I am sure there is some Russian name for it that translates to Iron Bear, or something.

Really, design wise, that futurist look is pretty amazing, on top of the functionality.

FIFA Friday

So, I am not really a soccer guy.

I mean I get, it's OK, I guess.
These World Cup guys are pretty brutal.
Sat through at least part of a couple games.

This graphic though...
The fucking logo.
They put it up every time play stops.
Like three times, every time.
And I hate this logo thing.

FIFA facepalm logo lameness...is lame.
I tune out, just to avoid seeing it again.

Sorry if you are into watching the World Cup.  I probably just ruined it for you.  You will start noticing that awful logo, again and again.  It will haunt you and spoil the whole experience.  Apologies...

Is It Me

I can't really look at one of these without thinking of the other.

Somebody at Nissan design must love Rambler wagons...

Glass/Jazz

This is sorta mesmerizing, if you have ten minutes to spare...

Pettibon

Hey, here is a bit about Black Flag and the art that went along with that band.

Pretty cool stuff, if you are a fan of any of that...

Seems pretty perfect.

Restroom Signs

Pretty classy.
Kinda feels like an modernist Arabic aesthetic, huh?
I mean if suggesting titties and dicks wasn't such no-no with the fundamentalist types...

Oddly, though, found in China.

Seeing

This is an interesting bit.

I don't know many folks who talk about this stuff, outside of the ones in academia.
My designer pals, I suppose, talk like this at times...
And I actually think about this stuff, a rather lot, as I tinker with my world.
Positive and negative space, surface, the interaction of lines and such.

I think there is a evolution that requires one to think about this stuff.
Then think about why you are thinking about it.
Then sorta stop thinking about it, remove it from conscious thought.
Until the seeing is intuitive...
Natural.

But what do I know...

Drawring

In the spirit of Teddy Roosevelt, who said...

"Whenever you are asked if you can do a job, tell 'em 'Certainly I can!' Then get busy and find out how to do it"

I am figuring out how to use CAD.
You know, electronic drafting software stuff...
I have dabbled with it in the past, more just to add notes to existing files and such.
An old associate asked me to help with a project, so here I am.

Have you ever watched a CAD tutorial, or looked at a manual or guide?  Probably not, unless you are actually using it for something, already.
Not sure if I would recommend it, but being me...it is actually kinda fun.
I only need to deal with some two-dimensional stuff, build some bits and create some diagrams.  Relatively simple stuff, given what can be done.  Still, a nice project/diversion for my bored bean.

Anyway, I should get back to learnin' so I can get on with the doing...

Another

Sure, we already have a bike there for our Tuesday theme, but this monster is too spectacular to pass up posting.

Egli framed Vincent.
Ooohh boy...

I could explain some of why this thing holds a fetish status in my head, but hell, just look at it.  Just imagine the beautiful bark that comes out of that exhaust.  The smooth surface of the alloy tank, squeezed between your knees as you try to press yourself into a tuck behind that windscreen.  Think of the gentle scent of hot oil that would fill your garage, after you share a ride with this thing.

It really is something.  High zoot street bike, made into a race bike, then taken back to a vaguely legal street bike.  Custom frame contrasted against that chain guard, which looks to have been engineered by a farmer.  All of the spots just crammed with mechanical goodness, contrasted by void and empty space.  And really, Vincent motors are just plain sexy.

OK...

It's for sale, too.  All the details are over here, along with more pictures to ponder.

Post Modernism

So, are we post-post-modern now?

Or is this some sort of neo-revivalism-post-modernity we are living in?

Maybe the early stages of pre-revival-neo -modernist thought, breaking away from established neo-modernity and moving towards a neo-pre-post-modernism?

Shoe Box

In the future Adidas won't just supply us with soccer shoes and brightly colored warm up jackets.

They will provide the cantilevered, glass walled, shoe boxes we live in...
